Capture, Editing and Post Production
There are a large array of FOSS video capture, editing and post-production tools out there. Most of them still need quite a bit of work howeber HyperEngine-AV is one programme that is certainly up to the task. For Windows the programmes require you to use a seperate programme to import your video onto your computer. For Windows and Mac there are however other non-FOSS yet free stable editing programmes such as iMovie and Windows media maker. Editing video on Linux is still quite a difficult process unfortunately.

Timestamps recorded on DV tape by camcorder can be used to automatically split captured video into multiple files. During transmitting to DV, several AVI-files can be joined together to form final video recording.
