The Base Pack consists of some essential software that should be installed on your computer before you begin to use the audio and video tools profiled in this box. Audio and video content can be stored in numerous formats. This base pack installs the codecs (enCOders and DECoders) required for the various tools that you will be using to read from, write to and convert between formats.
Mac users do not need to install a base pack.

Installing linux programs can sometimes be quite complicated.
Given that there are thousands of software developers worldwide
contributing code to the thousands of linux based programs and
dependent software libraries, released under different licenses and
stored in different
locations, it makes it particularly difficult to package a program with all its dependencies and make an easy installer for you.
However, what we have done is the next best thing. We have made this AudioVideo NGO-in-a-Box Edition CDROM itself into a CDROM based repository that will work on Ubuntulinux and will allow you to install the audio and video tools that we have profiled on this CD.
